At The Wilson Academy of Performing Arts, we believe that the performing arts is about so much more than learning to dance, sing or act. It's about building confidence, creating friendships, making memories, and giving every child a place where they can truly be themselves.

 

Based in Meopham, Gravesham, Kent, The Wilson Academy is led by wife-and-husband team Nicola and Karl Wilson. With over 15 years of professional experience in the performing arts industry, they have performed in theatre productions, toured nationally and internationally, appeared in the West End, and worked on television and film projects for some of the world's biggest studios, including Netflix, HBO, Apple TV, Amazon Studios, ITV, BBC and Channel 4. Whilst they are passionate about their industry, their other great passion is helping young people discover their own potential through performing arts.

 

The Wilson Academy proudly builds upon the wonderful foundations of the former Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts which was lead by Amelia Appleby for over 30 years! We are incredibly grateful for the legacy that has been created over the years and are excited to continue that journey, bringing fresh ideas, new opportunities and exciting experiences for both existing and future students. Our vision is to create a school where every child feels welcomed, valued and inspired from the moment they walk through the door.

 

Our team of talented teachers are all experienced industry professionals who understand the importance of balancing high-quality training with a fun, nurturing environment. We know that every child is different, and we celebrate individuality. Whether a student joins us with dreams of performing professionally or simply wants to enjoy classes with friends and grow in confidence, they will be supported every step of the way.

 

Family is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to have a community where students, parents and teachers come together to support one another. From weekly classes and examinations to performances, workshops and special events, we strive to create experiences that families can look back on and treasure for years to come. The friendships formed, the confidence gained and the memories made are often just as important as the skills learned.
